In the collaboration with Queen’s University Belfast, Hanoi University of Public Health organized a dissemination workshop of the project “Understanding Breast Cancer Services in Vietnam” in order to share and discuss the key findings of the research with the participants. The workshop had the participation of the project’s research team members from Hanoi University of Public Health, Hanoi Medical University, and Queen’s University Belfast; representatives from World Health Organization, National Oncology Hospital, Supportive Fund for Cancer Patients - Bright Future, Bac Giang Department of Health (one of five research locations), National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Women Academy, Majlis Kanser Nasional (MAKNA) Vietnam, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences – Institute of Anthropology, Center for Research-Consulting and Support of Community Health; and women with breast cancer from Fight Against Cancer Club.

The workshop was held on 22/08/2018, including 04 presentations on research project’s overview and results; 01 speech from guest speaker on the importance of the research project; 01 share story from women with breast cancer; and 01 discussion session with the participations of all participants.

Overview of the research projects and results:
The research project was funded by Newton Fund through British Council and was conducted in three years 2016-2018
The objectives of the project are to 1) Evaluate the accessibility, affordability, and appropriateness of breast cancer services (detection, diagnosis & treatment) in Vietnam; 2) Capture the difficulties and advantages of using breast cancer-related health services in Vietnam - from the perspective of patients and their families
The research project has 4 main components: 1) Scoping review of literature; 2) Health system and study on the perspective of healthcare providers; 3) Qualitative study on the experience of women with breast cancer; and 4) Qualitative study on the perspective of caregivers and support networks
Study locations were Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city, Bac Giang, Thua Thien Hue, and Dong Thap Province. The research was supported by the National Oncology Hospital; Hanoi Oncology Hospital; Department of Health of mentioned cities/provinces; health facilities at provincial, district and commune level of Bac Giang, Dong Thap and Thua Thien Hue Province.
The research has achieved satisfactory results in terms of scientific as well as international research and training cooperation between the participating units. Specifically:
