Data collection for a formative research for mCessation (mobile phone based smoking cessation) in Dong Thap province

 

 

From 11/10/2017 to 14/10/2017, Center for Population Health Sciences (CPHS) – Hanoi University of Public Health has conducted the data collection for the study “A formative research for mCessation (mobile phone based smoking cessation) in Viet Nam” at some colleges, universities in Dong Thap province (Dong Thap Medical College, Dong Thap Community College…) and in Thanh Binh district, Dong Thap province.

 

Objective:

 

This study aims to explore the feasibility, willingness to pay and ability to afford mCessation intervention as well as to adapt available mCessation models elsewhere to Vietnam context. 

 

Specific objective:

  1. To collect and synthesize evidence on mCessation models and guidelines shared by WHO and from other countries and situation of smoking cessation support in Viet Nam
  2. To evaluate the needs for smoking cessation and mCessation and willingness to pay for SMS messages among smokers in selected areas in Vietnam
  3. To develop, test and adapt available mCessation messages in selected areas in Vietnam

 

Research sites:

Ha Noi city, Ha Nam province, Ho Chi Minh city, and Dong Thap province

 

Research methodology:

This is a mixed method study which combine a literature review, a qualitative study and a quantitative survey
