PigRISK closing & SafePORK launching: Improving food safety along the pork value chain – lessons learned & ways forward

 

 

 

From 7th to 8th September, 2017, the “PigRISK closing and SafePORK launching workshop: Improving food safety along the pork value chain – lessons learned and ways forward” has been successfully organized in Hanoi.

 

Objectives:

  • To share key results and recommendations from the PigRISK project Reducing disease risks and improving food safety in smallholder pig value chains in Vietnam
  • To discuss with relevant stakeholders observed food safety challenges and how to address them;
  • To launch the SafePORK project “Market based approaches to improving the safety of pork in Vietnam inception workshop” (objectives, partnerships, key activities, outputs and timelines)

  • International organizations: International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI);  ACIAR
  • National organizations:
    • Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development;
    • Hanoi University of Public Health (HUPH); Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA)
    • Provincial level agencies: Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Division of Agriculture and Rural Development; Sub-department of Animal Health; Sub Vietnam Food Administration (Hung Yen and Nghe An provinces)

 

Assoc.Prof. Hoang Van Minh – Vice Rector of Hanoi University of Public Health, Director of Center for Population Health Sciences, Hanoi University of Public Health, on behalf of Board of Rectors, has highly appreciated the fruitful cooperation in terms of research and training gained from this study project as well as hoped that received more effective cooperation in upcoming time. Tran Tuan Anh, MA – Researcher of Center for Population Health Sciences (Hanoi University of Public Health), on behalf of research team, has presented the findings from study “Cost of hospitalization for foodborne diarrhea: A case study from Vietnam” at this workshop
