Planning, capacity training: “Cultural Adaptation, Evaluation of mHealth Interventions for Smoking Cessation in Vietnam”

 

In the framework of the research “Cultural Adaptation and Evaluation of mHealth Interventions for Smoking Cessation in China and Vietnam” from 25 to 27 September, 2018, the meeting among professors and researchers was held in the School of Public Health, Georgia State University.

 

The attendants included:

  • Professor Michael Eriksen - Dean of the School of Public Health, Georgia State University.
  • Associate Professor Hoang Van Minh, Director of CPHS, Vice Rector of Hanoi University of Public Health.
  • Associate Professor PinPin Zheng - School of Public Health, Fudan University.
  • Associate Professor Jidong Huang, Associate Professor Matt Hayat, Dr. Claire Spears, MPH. Pam Redmon, MPH. Saiza Jivani and BSc. Charlayne A Scarlett - School of Public Health, Georgia State University.
  • MPH. Do Van Vuong, BSc. Pham Huong Giang - Hanoi University of Public Health.
  • BSc. Yitian Feng - School of Public Health, Fudan University.
  • Guest Speaker – Dr. Lorien Abroms - George Washington University.

 

The meeting aimed to share and discuss findings of qualitative study within the first year of the project, and to plan the next steps for implementation of Pilot Study in the next year. Moreover, the School of Public Health, Georgia State University also held 02 useful capacity trainings “mHealth Research Methods and Intervention Approaches” and “Randomized Clinical Trials and Statistical Methods”.

The workshop was successful. The research group of Hanoi University of Public Health received positive responses regarding the findings of qualitative study, and essential information for the implementation of pilot study in the next year.
