The 47th Union World Conference on Lung Health in Liverpool, the United Kingdom

 

 

From 26th to 29th October, 2016, the 47th Union World Conference on Lung Health was held in Liverpool, the United Kingdom by the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Health (The Union).

 

The Union World Conference on Lung Health is the world’s largest gathering of clinicians and public health workers, health programme managers, policymakers, researchers and advocates working to end the suffering caused by lung disease, with a focus specifically on the challenges faced by the low- and middle-income countries. 

 

This year, the conference welcomed over 3,000 participants came together from 126 countries to discuss on the theme Confronting Resistance: Fundamentals to Innovations”. Plenary sessions, symposia, oral and poster abstract sessions on TB, especially MDR-TB; COPD, asthma and other lung healths; HIV-TB and other HIV-related lung health; and Tobacco control was organized.

 

Ms. Ngan Thu Tran, Msc. - researcher of the Centre for Population Health Sciences, Hanoi University of Public Health - was invited by the Union to attend and present at the conference. She presented the abstract of the research “Changes in Vietnamese male smokers’ reaction towards the new pictorial cigarette pack warnings over time”.
